Working groups 2002


Terms of Reference for AILIS Working Groups

The aim is to develop awareness among AILIS members of a library related topic or problem, to give guidelines and best practices, to inform members of existing solutions and literature on the topics treated. The report is published on the AILIS web site and presented to AILIS members during a luncheon session.


Terms of Reference

· To define the specific technical issue to be addressed
· To review existing work being undertaken in this area
· To identify relevant research in this area
· To monitor initiatives among AILIS members in this area
· To promote awareness among AILIS members in this area
· To provide a forum for communication between AILIS members in this
area
· To conduct a survey among AILIS members (and possibly other Geneva
libraries) on matters related to the subject addressed
· To identify needs of AILIS members in this area
· To propose a liaison with other interest groups and any external
organization involved in this area, as required
· To provide advice and guidelines
· To develop suggestions, strategies and action
· To develop criteria for defining best practices
· To include policy recommendations in these areas
· To provide an executive summary

Membership

· Any AILIS member is invited participate in the WG
· One AILIS library will be the chair of the WG and organize the work
of the WG
· The chair shall appoint a member of the group as secretary

Time scale

· The ad-hoc working group has a limited life span of up to 12 months
